KENDALL JENNER SUES SKINCARE COMPANY FOR $10 MILLION
Kendall Jenner is suing a skincare company for at least $10 million.
The ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ star has filed a lawsuit against Cutera Inc, arguing they had used her picture in advertisements for their Laser Genesis treatment without permission.
One print advert quoted Kendall, the supermodel 20, as saying acne had “completely ruined” her self-esteem but receiving the treatment had left her with “nearly flawless skin”.
The complaint stated: “Ms. Jenner’s actual endorsement for a worldwide campaign such as this would command a fee well into eight figures.
“Setting aside the monetary value, however, it is Ms. Jenner’s choice whether or not to commercially endorse another party’s goods and services. Cutera took that choice away from her.” "Cutera's use of Kendall Jenner's name and likeness is not, and never has been, authorized," Kendall's lawyer states. "Cutera has never sought Ms. Jenner's permission to use her as a 'face' for its products and services, and Ms. Jenner has never given such permission."
The complaint, which was filed in Los Angeles federal court yesterday (10.02.16), accused Cutera of trademark infringement, false endorsement and violating her right of publicity.
The California-based company have not made a comment on the complaint.
Kendall has previously spoken of how acne affected her self-esteem when she was younger.
She said: “I had such bad acne when I was younger; I remember it SO well!
“Where it really impacted me was how self-conscious I became about it. It completely ruined my self-esteem. I wouldn’t even look at people when I talked to them. I felt like such an outcast; when I spoke, it was with my hand covering my face. Sure, I had crushes in high school, but I wouldn’t even think about looking at guys.”
