ISAAC MIZRAHI DESIGNED A BLINGY $249 SMARTWATCH WITH HP

We may not know how well the most high-profile entrant into the smartwatch space, the Apple Watch, has performed on the sales floor in the 10 months since its launch, but that isn't stopping technology and fashion companies from diving into the buzzy category, often arm-in-arm. The latest duo to offer their services to the step-counting masses: Isaac Mizrahi and HP, whose enhanced timepiece is available for pre-order on Thursday and will start shipping next week.

Priced at $249.99, it sits near the Samsung Gear 2, a cheaper alternative to Apple's $349 entry-level option or the $1,500 Tag Heuer Connected, priced competitively with Apple's Hermès band version. Aesthetically, though, it's a far cry from all of those. Neither sporty in the way that Samsung or Tag Heuer have modeled theirs, nor restrained and sleek in the manner of the Apple Watch, Mizrahi has gone long on glitz, circling the gold and silver faces with Swarovski crystals. This is a watch, as Mizrahi explained in a statement, expressly for women. Or anyone who likes bling, really.

The watch's capabilities are pretty standard: Message notifications, social media access, a pedometer to help you get to that golden 10,000 steps a day. But it also comes with five band options, including pale pink and baby blue.
